The interactions of a mother and her daughter struck me so powerfully that no sooner had I created one quilt with this juxtaposition than I decided to create the other, one to portray the inner experience of the regretful mother (Growing, Going, Gone) and the other from the determined daughter's viewpoint (Behold the Future). Depicting the emotional state of each person in this timeless family drama by facial expression alone was assisted by the titles, which magically occurred to me once I'd completed each work.
